Effects Tutorial
Just a few ways to achive a cool effect.I start with the same layer every time and duplicate it and do the effect on the duplicated layer.
Original
1) With Find Egdes
Go: Filter > Stylize > Find Edges
Put the layer on Soft Light and set the opacity after what fits your image. I took 55%
2) With Paint Daubs
Go: Filter > Artistic > Paint Daubs
Choose as you see fit. I went:
Brush size: 4
Sharpnes: 6
Brush type: simple
Put the layer on Soft Light (Multiply on a lower opacity works sometimes depending on the picture)
3) With Retricualtion
Choose a darker and a lighter (pastel) colour and put the darker as foreground (I went with 7E7280 and E9C494).
Go: Filter > Sketch > Retriculation
Set on:
Density: 0
Foreground: 0
Background: 0
(You can change these but this is my recomendation)
Set layer on Hard Light
4) With High Pass
Go: Filter > Other > High Pass
Set as you see fit, but keep it low. I choose 2,0 pixels
Set on Hard Light.
5) With Cutout
Go: Filter > Artistic > Cutout
Set on:
Number of Levels: 8
Edge Simplicity: 0
Edge Fidelity: 2
Set on Hard Light.
Optional: Desaturate by pressing Ctrl+Shift+U
6) With Smudge Stick
Go: Filter > Artistic > Smudge Stick
Set on:
Stroke Length: 4
Highlight Area: 0
Intensity: 10
Set on Hard Light.
Optional: Desaturate by pressing Ctrl+Shift+U
